Les yeux de Horace devinrent noirs de colère. Il fit un pas vers le garçon.

- Do not lie to me, dit-il d'un ton menaçant. We're on the same side. Don't be a traitor. Do not betray me. I always get my revenge.

Au même moment se fit entendre un cri perçant.

- Goodbye, souffla la voix de Horace.

Edwin ne lui prêta pas attention. Il suivit la foule à l'orangerie, son coeur battant, ses mains moites.

Et là, ses craintes furent confirmées. Devant lui gisait un corps inerte...
