Remembered as "the last of the bush balladists", Edward Phillip Harrington (1895-1966) was also a poet of remarkable range. A veteran of the 4th Light Horse Brigade who took part in the legendary mounted Charge on Beersheba in 1917, Harrington earned acclaim as a "Digger Poet". Yet he was equally skilled at capturing city life in poems such as "The Derelicts" and celebrating beautiful places as seen in "Mallacoota".
While classic verses like "My Old Black Billy" and "The Bushrangers" have ensured a loyal following, Harrington's wider body of work has been unavailable for decades.
