Spirit of Place: Mediterranean Writings edited by A.G.Thomas

Spirit of Place gives a vivid personal sketch of his life and literary career, from 1930s England, to Corfu just before the War, and his subsequent journeyings round the Mediterranean (with an excursion to South America). Some of the most enjoyable and heartfelt writing is about Provence, where he settled in the 1960s to compose his masterpiece The Alexandria Quartet.
