During World War II troops often lived in the field, and nudity was a natural part of this all-male environment. Some servicemen documented this in photos. Michael Stokes has built an archive of some 600 of these images - a side of the war never before made public.
Während des Zweiten Weltkriegs lebten die Truppen oft im Feld, und Nacktheit war ein selbstverständlicher Bestandteil dieser rein männlichen Lebenswelt. Einige Soldaten haben das mit der Kamera festgehalten. Michael Stokes hat ein Archiv mit rund 600 dieser Bilder aufgebaut - sie offenbaren eine Seite des Krieges, die noeh nie zuvor gezeigt wurde.
