Cinema in England

0 - Default Title
Description
English cinema has rarely been granted its own status. It has always been seen as an appendage to American cinema, given its approach to more noble themes, with an academic language; in short, a more pretentious cinema, whose productions tend to creak under the weight of these productions. This is the image that is often held of British cinema, and the image that a considerable part of British production helps to consolidate. The usually high and often superb level of acting is mentioned as a consolation prize, but the praise does not usually go beyond this. Some films from Alfred Hitchcock's British phase are also often remembered, but that is about it. This summary assessment, however, ends up overshadowing a considerable number of great films and even filmmakers that should be taken into consideration. In English Cinema: 1928-1957, Ricardo Luiz de Souza examines dozens of films produced in England during this period, with the aim of better understanding English cinematography at the time.
