Junior is a bodhran player who realizes that his instrument is an accompanying one. Consequently for his 'solo' album he has surrounded himself with other musicians. Seven young musicians from his home area of south Sligo join him on various instruments to play the music in which the area is steeped. These include Declan Folan (fiddle), Damien Stenson (flute) Seamus O'Donnell (flute, saxophone) Declan and Teresa Payne on box and Banjo. Declan Carroll plays guitar and Karin Widmer plays bouzouki. Junior is one of the true masters of the art of bodhrán playing. Played as he does, the bodhrán becomes the heart beat of Irish traditional music and this December 2005 release bears testament to his much deserved status as one of the finest players of his generation.
