Commune-ist Manifesto

Commune-ist Manifesto

0 - Default Title
Description
Drawing on centuries of wisdom traditions and the growing body of research and literature calling for a social revival, this work presents tools for destroying the locks preventing the formation of interdependent community - locks such as consumptive materialism, detachment from place, and poor civic design. The end goal is not simply another conjecture of a utopian theory, but a rally for an esprit de corps to reclaim a community ideology for the twenty-first century.
Commune-ist Manifesto is not about communist rhetoric, but is rather a cry for commune-ity - a cry for the restoration of family, neighborliness, interdependence, self-sacrifice, moral values, simplicity, civic places, and appreciation for cultural tradition.
Tying together the ideas of Jane Jacobs, James Howard Kunstler, Wendell Berry, C.S. Lewis, E.F. Schumacher, William Hillier, and others, this work identifies corporatization, globalization, neoliberalism, consumptive materialism, and suburbanization as menacing attackers ripping away the fabric of local community. This work will inspire you to pursue stronger community with others, and equip you with a greater ability to recognize and reverse the increasing social trend of uncivilized hyper-individualism.
