Description
That very same night, Heartland The Musical debuted in the heartland of America- the Wichita (Kansas) Grand Theater.
Heartland The Musical chronicles the rise, fall, and resurrection of the political life of President DeWayne Cantrell from his shocking win in 2016, his subsequent loss to Edward Blaylock in 2020, and finally, his unexpected return to American politics in 2024. The story is told through stage, 24 songs, actual videotaped news accounts, and film clips from Political Championship Wrestling- a professional wrestling company that presents politics as pro wrestling.
On January 20th, 2021, former President Cantrell returns to his hometown of Westville, Ohio, after giving a farewell speech and reunites with friends at Hack's Rusty Nail Saloon. After Cantrell's American Heartland Party gains seats in the 2022 elections, party leader Will Beckworth is approached by the big-money Worthington Foundation to join their side, but refuses. Later, Will is indicted over a financial filing mistake and ultimately takes a plea deal to protect his family and is incarcerated. Enraged by what's happened to Will, Cantrell declares his candidacy for the 2024 presidential race and launches a campaign against the incumbent Blaylock and Republican Dutch McDonnell.
Once again, can DeWayne stand up for the little guy, fight the establishment of both political parties, and stick it to the Washington D.C. elites? And to what lengths will the professional politicians and their special interest groups go to stop him?
