His idols in his younger years were the ever popular Perry Como and Al Jolson both of whom commanded a worldwide following; but his biggest incentive came when family friend Mario Lanza encouraged the young Al to join the music industry and perform. Al was soon to get his big break when in 1952 he was offered the opportunity to record 'Here In My Heart' which coincidentally was also going to be recorded by Mario Lanza until Al asked him, as a friend, not to cover the song. Mario agreed and the song catapulted Al onto the world stage by becoming a million seller in the States as well as the UK which made him the first American artist to top the singles charts in both countries. Legends in Concert: Andy Williams: In the 1950s, the easy listening singer embarked on a solo career with a string of hits, propelling him into the limelight as a star. Andy Williams also hosted his own TV show which ran for nine years and this show features him singing with the elite of that era. Also featured on this show are fifteen of Wiliiam's all time classics, including 'Just In Time,' 'You Do Something To Me,' 'I've Grown Accustomed To Your Face' and many more.
