The collection of Bedouin silver jewellery on which this book is based is the result of the combined efforts of the author's husband and herself since 1969. Most of the shown pieces were bought in the Women's Suq in the capital city of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. Initially, her aim in producing a book about this jewellery was to provide something enjoyable as well as informative, and, if the book does bring pleasure to its Readers, then the Task of compiling it will have been well. The other reason for attempting the book grew increasingly important as the work progressed and that is the documenting of a passing phase in the Saudi Arabian people's history. The commentary does not amount to a scholarly work but it does take into account carefully coordinated information gleaned from the Bedouin, various published sources and the documented information of several authorities on Bedouin culture. Where offered details conflicted, no definite claims have been made.
