Sei giorni fa un vulcano è sprofondato nell'oceano, sollevando un'onda gigantesca, e per Louie, i suoi genitori e i suoi otto fratelli e sorelle il mondo circostante è sparito. La loro casa, inerpicata sulla cima di una collina, ha resistito. Tutt'intorno, a perdita d'occhio, non c'è altro che una distesa d'acqua argentea. Un'acqua scossa da tempeste violente come accessi di rabbia. Da sei giorni sperano di veder arrivare soccorsi, perché il cibo inizia a scarseggiare.
