Londra, 2010. Il processo al Cremation Killer, Naguib Khalid, è giunto al momento della sentenza. Il detective William Fawkes, detto Wolf, è in ansiosa attesa del verdetto. Perché le prove a carico dell'imputato sono indiziarie, e c'è chi dice che siano state inventate da Wolf stesso. Quando Khalid viene assolto, Wolf lo aggredisce in tribunale e viene rinchiuso in un ospedale psichiatrico.
