Sixty-five Years (and counting)/ To celebrate its sixty-fifth anniversary and its sponsorship of typographic excellence, the Type Directors Club has published Celebrate 65, a portfolio of inspirational work by prominent type designers, graphic designers, letterers, calligraphers, and artists. The sixty-five contributors were invited to submit a design for one number between one and sixty-five. This book presents their smart and beautiful efforts, as well as memoirs and reflections by Roger Black, James Montalbano, Paul Shaw, Ilene Strizver, Carol Wahler. and Alex W. White./ The featured designers come from more than twenty-five countries and Gail Anderson, Ken Barber, Ed Benguiat, Neville Brody, Matthew Carter, Tony DiSpigna, Sonya Dyakova, Louise Fili, Adrian Frutiger, Milton Glaser, Cyrus Highsmith, Kit Hinrichs, Jessica Hische, Mirko Ilic, Akira Kobayashi, Zuzana Licko, Gabriel Martínez Meave, Alejandro Paul, Daniel Pelavin, Jean François Porchez, Paula Scher, Erik Spiekermann, Sumner Stone, Strange Attractors, Shinnoske Sugisaki, Niklaus Troxler, Underware, Fred Woodward, Hermann Zapf...and many more./ We thank the contributors to Celebrate 65 for their support of the Type Directors Club, which continues to lead in the promotion of typographic achievement around the world./ The seven typefaces used in the book text were all winners in the TDC Typeface Design Competition. TDC board chairman Diego Vainesman designed the book, which is 10 x 10 inches and 80 pages.
