Description
Clorinda Matto de Turner (Cuzco, 1854 ¿ Buenos Aires, 1909) was not only a pioneer in women¿s Latin American literature, but also a forerunner of the reformist movements and of the fight for women¿s rights in Latin America. Birds Without a Nest (1889) is considered the first indigenista novel, because, for the first time in the Hispanic letters of the American continent, it unfolds an intense social protest against the situation of unfair exploitation and it has a special way of denouncing the greater oppression women are suffering in the indigenous social group.
