Né à Paris, fils de fabricant de meubles, Gaston Lachaise commence à exposer à partir de 1899 au Salon. Au début du nouveau siècle, il rencontre Isabel Dutaud Nagel dont il tombe amoureux. Ce n'est qu'en 1917 qu'il l'épouse après avoir émigré aux Etats-Unis pour la suivre. Le corps de sa femme a été sa source d'inspiration première pour ses sculptures. ©Electre 2026
