Excerpt from Minutes of the Annual Conferences of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, for the Year 1903<br/><br/>Church; from 1878 to 1882 he was pre siding elder of the Moorefield District; from 1882 to 1885 he was in charge of Staunton Station; from 1885 to 1888 in Alexandria Station; from 1888 to 1892 he was presiding elder of the Winchester District; from 1892 to 1893 he was in charge of Fredericksburg Station; from 1893 to 1897 he was presiding elder of the Washington District; from 1897 to 1899 he was in charge of Charles Town Station, and was then appointed to Trinity Church, Roanoke, Va., where he remained until the spring of 1902, when, on account of failing 'health, he took a superannuated relation. He was first elected a delegate to the General Confer ence from the Baltimore Conference in 1882, and was a member of every General Conference from that time until he went upon the superannuated list, serv ing in five General Conferences from the Baltimore Conference, several times leading his delegation, and once received a ?attering vote for the episcopacy. The forty-six years he spent in the ministry were filled with earnest, aggressive work. He felt that he had a work to do.
