The author highlights several relevant aspects of the motto of this year's Historikertag: "Winners and Losers". The talk of it has been a key constituent of historical occurrences ever since antiquity and has lately seen an addition in procedures of modernization, urbanization and globalization. Winners and losers do not only exist in the history of events, but also in the history of interpretation. Dealing with the First World War and its consequences is especially instructive since winners like France and England would turn out as losers in the long run whereas the newly emerging countries in Eastern and Southern Europa can feel like winners. With regard to historiography as for the development of social/political consciousness, the treatment of losers proves even more significant than a history of winners.

Er bietet eine problemorientierte Darstellung der politischen Gef?hlslandschaft seiner Kinderzeit und Jugend, bei der auch die Bedeutung der Leitw?rter des NS-Regimes (Fahne, Ehre, F?hrer, Vaterland, Kameradschaft, Gro?deutschland, Das Reich, Volk) aus der Sicht der damals Betroffenen kritisch dargestellt werden, gefolgt von der Behandlung "jugendlicher Feindbilder" sowie den Erfahrungen und Lernprozessen des 15j?hrigen Luftwaffenhelfers ("Lernen der letzte Dreck zu sein"). Der Autor verbindet dabei die Perspektive von damals mit der Weiterentwicklung von Sehweisen des Geschehens bis heute.
Rolf Sch?rken: Memories of Hitler Youth-EducationThe author reflects his childhood and juvenile memories - fragmentary in the case of the five-year-old "Pimpf", and more complex for the times at the Jungvolk, the Hitler Youth and as Luftwaffe auxiliary personnel. He offers a problem-oriented account of the (political) emotional landscape of his childhood and youth, which also echos the meaning of key terms of the National Socialist Regime (flag, honour, F?hrer, fatherland, comradeship, Greater Germany, the Reich, the German people) from the perspective of then affected youths. He continues with the treatment of "juvenile enemy stereotypes" as well as the experiences and processes of learning of a 15-year-old Luftwaffe auxiliary soldier ("learning to be the ultimate scum"). The author connects the scope of that time with the development of perspectives up to the present day.

Jahrhunderts. Dabei wird deutlich, dass von einer j?ngeren Historikergeneration, die Fischer-Thesen zunehmend kritisch gesehen werden.
