"Modern Times" (1936, 103 min.) - The Little Tramp battles technology, unemployment, jail, burglars, demanding customers, bosses and "The Gamin." Chaplin's last silent film is remarkably unsilent, featuring the only time the Little Tramp's voice was heard on film. "The Great Dictator" (1940, 125 min.) - In his first talking film, Charlie Chaplin skewers on sharp spears of ridicule, playing both the malevolent dictator Adenoid Hynkel and his lookalike, an innocent ish barber.
