Stanwell-Fletcher's (b. 1906) journal of the three years (in two visits) that she and her husband spent studying plant and animals from their log cabin in the wilderness of northern British Columbia during the late 1930s and early 1940s. The 1946 edition published by Little, Brown won the John Burroughs Medal for nature writing; the reprint restores the original photographs, animal sketches, and plant and animal lists.
