Robert De Niro took his first starring role in this Brain De Palma-directed counter-culture comedy. The story focuses on the lives of three separate New Yorkers, each of whom has their own fixation - ranging from sex and voyeurism to Kennedy assassination theories - but who have a common interest in avoiding the draft for the Vietnam war. Along with 'The Wedding Party' (1969) and 'Hi, Mom' (1970), this was one of a number of films De Niro and De Palma made together before going on to find their own signature styles in the early 1970s.
