Der promovierte Literaturwissenschaftler Gerd Bräuer (Jg. 1960) ist seit 2001 Associate Professor of German Studies an der Emory University (Atlanta, USA). Sein Konzept des schulischen Schreib- und Lesezentrums wurde im Transatlantischen Ideenwettbewerb USable der Körber-Stiftung im Jahr 2000 mit einem Hauptpreis ausgezeichnet. Eine DAAD-Gastprofessur an der Pädagogischen Hochschule Freiburg ermöglichte ihm den Aufbau eines Schreibzentrums und einer Schreibberaterausbildung. Er ist Autor mehrerer Publikationen zum genannten Thema.
