Maxillary Included Canines: Statistical Modeling

Maxillary Included Canines: Statistical Modeling

0 - Default Title
Description
The maxillary canines play an essential role in occlusion and smile aesthetics.this study of 50 patients (68 canines included) aims to identify factors influencing inclusion, duration of orthodontic traction and risk of resorption. Diagnosis was based on clinical and radiological examinations. The results show that palatal canines are more often included and require longer traction than vestibular canines. A predictive formula incorporating horizontal position, follicle size, height and apex position has a reliability of 91%. The use of a circuit breaker is associated with more complex cases and therefore prolonged traction, while early extraction of the temporary tooth reduces duration, especially for palatal canines. Root resorption factors identified include agenesis unrelated to lateral incisors, microdontia of the latter and position of the apex. A 76% reliable predictive model was developed. Early diagnosis and the use of these models enable more effective planning and pave the way for digital diagnostic aids.
