Ich heiße Biejie und bin ganz im Norden Kenias an den Ufern von dem wunderschönen Turkanasee aufgewachsen. Das ist ganz in der Nähe von der äthiopischen Grenze. Ich glaube, ich hatte dort eine ähnliche Kindheit, wie die von vielen anderen Kinder aus unserem Daasanach Stamm. Für uns ist das Leben nicht immer einfach, ich dachte immer, dass dieses Leben für jedes Kind ganz normal wäre. Irgendwann habe ich dann auch eine andere Welt entdeckt und verbrachte einige Zeit in modernen Städten wie Nairobi. Erst da wurde mir klar, dass das Leben, das wir zu Hause führen, vielen Menschen gar nicht bekannt ist. Ich habe gesehen, dass unser traditionelles Leben selten geworden ist. Deswegen entwickelte ich den Wunsch, über unseren Stamm zu schreiben. Ich hatte das Glück, jemanden zu finden, der mir helfen wollte, meine Erinnerungen an meine Kindheit in unserem abgelegenen Stamm zu sammeln und aufzuschreiben. - o 0 o -
Mi chiamo Biejie e sono cresciuto nell'estremo nord del Kenya, vicino alle rive del bellissimo lago Turkana, molto vicino al confine con l'Etiopia. Credo di aver vissuto un'infanzia simile a quella di tutti gli altri bambini della nostra tribù Daasanach. Le cose non erano sempre facili, sono cresciuto credendo che questa vita fosse normale per qualsiasi bambino. In seguito ho scoperto un altro mondo, trascorrendo del tempo anche in città moderne come Nairobi. Solo allora mi sono reso conto che la vita che facevamo a casa non è conosciuta da molte persone. Vedendo che la nostra vita tradizionale è diventata rara, ho pensato di scrivere della nostra tribù. Sono stato fortunato a trovare qualcuno che ha deciso di aiutarmi a raccogliere i ricordi della mia infanzia nella nostra remota tribù e a metterli su carta. - o 0 o - My name is Biejie and I grew up in the very north of Kenya near the shores of the beautiful lake Turkana, very close to the Ethiopian border. I think I had a childhood there similar to the one other kids in our Daasanach tribe experienced. Things were not always easy, I grew up believing this life was just normal for any child. With time I discovered another world, also spending time in modern cities like Nairobi. Only then I realized that the life we were living at home is not known to many people. Seeing that our traditional life has become rare I developed the desire to write about our tribe. I was lucky to find somebody who decided to help me to collect my memories of my childhood in our remote tribe and to put it on paper.
