Clinical criminology

- Default Title
Description
READING NOTE ON CLINICAL CRIMINOLOGYThis manual contains teachings relating to the individual phenomenon of crime. From the outset, particular emphasis is placed on the definition of clinical criminology in both the broad and narrow or specific sense.Clinical criminology is the branch of applied criminology that aims to 'study individuals who commit crimes in order to determine the measures that are likely to prevent them from reoffending.'With its origins in scientific criminology, with Lombroso's assertion of the need for medical and psychological examination of criminals and Garofalo's assertion of the need for social investigation, the ultimate goal of this discipline is the social rehabilitation of offenders.Italian authors, particularly Garofalo, point out that clinical criminology is based on the concept of dangerousness, which is defined here before its components are identified, i.e. its constituent elements (criminal capacity or temerity and adaptability), its forms and its purpose.
