Excerpt from Eighth Annual Report of the State Board of Health of the State of Kansas<br/><br/>IT is gratifying to report that the year just closed has been one of unusual good health and prosperity to the people of this State. We have happily escaped the ravages Of epidemic disease, and have not to complain of an undue or excessive mortality from any cause. The threatened cholera inva sion of last year, which was the subject of much deep concern among all classes of our people, led to a much-improved sanitary condition of our cities and larger towns, and it is believed, also, to a diminution of disease from purely preventable causes. The impending dread of cholera invasion is, again, the leading topic in the sanitary world, and we confidently look to a vigorous, early renewal of the warfare against dirt and disease.
