The elegant musical stylings of master violinist Max Jaffa are the subject of this Vocalion release. Max Jaffa is well-known for the many radio broadcasts he made with his Palm Court Orchestra, and, of course, for his catalogue of bestselling recordings. Some of these are compiled here, including an album and various EPs as well as a single, all of which are a tribute to Jaffa's abilities. The Palm Court Orchestra was partiarly popular and often included guest musicians Reginald Kilbey (cello) and Jack Byfield (piano), who're heard on the EPs Music from the Palm Court Nos. 1 & 2 (1958), as is contralto Jean Grayston. Jaffa's 1957 album Violin and Voices featured a chorus led by arranger Bill Shepherd, and together they give charming renditions of standard tunes such as You've Done Something to My Heart, She's My Lovely, A Pretty Girl is Like a Melody, The Girl That I Marry, and many more.
