Linguistic Variation and Pedagogical Practice

Linguistic Variation and Pedagogical Practice

0 - Default Title
Description
This book is the result of research based on the sociolinguistic analysis of students aged 8 to 12 from low-income communities in the municipality of Petrópolis, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, with a view to establishing a current overview of their linguistic reality, as well as verifying how this is addressed in schools that serve these communities. In addition, it sought to discuss the possible gap between the students' actual usage and grammatical rules, to understand what primary school teachers understand by linguistic variation and the repercussions of this knowledge on teaching practice, and to propose the adoption of a practical and consistent pedagogical approach to dealing with such variants.
