Über Gleichheit und GleichzeitigkeitDie Arbeiten von Bernhard Holaschke (geb. 1986 in Heilbronn, lebt und arbeitet in Berlin und Prien am Chiemsee) sind geprägt von der Auseinandersetzung mit menschlicher Existenz, ihrer Verortung in der Welt und Kulturgeschichte. Holaschke hinterfragt Gleichheit und Gleichzeitigkeit von Emotionen, Dingen und ihren Werten. Dazu verwendet er Medien wie Zeichnung, Malerei, Objekt und Video. Er bespielt klassische Ausstellungssituationen, kreiert Musikvideos und inszeniert visuelle Liveshows – zum Beispiel auf Technofestivals, in der Berliner Philharmonie oder in sakralen Bauten.ThisIs All I Could Do setzt zum einen mit der Dokumentation vonI Do Many Things , der ersten Ausstellung in Holaschkes Geburtsstadt, einen Schwerpunkt auf seine großformatige Malerei. Zum anderen gibt das Buch einen atmosphärischen Überblick seines Œuvres mit einer Auswahl an Arbeiten, Ausstellungen und Projekten der letzten Dekade. Neben Kommentaren des Künstlers enthält das Buch Essays von Tobias Kämpf, Eric Keil und Lena Malich.On Equivalence and SimultaneityBernhard Holaschke’s (b. Holaschke questions the equivalence and simultaneity of emotions, things, and their values, using media including drawing, painting, object art, and video.
