Description
In the summer of 2006 the alto saxophonist Benjamin Herman was asked to compose a musical score for a documentary about Remco Campert, one of Holland's most famous poets. Apart from being one of Holland's most respected authors, Campert is also a big jazz fan and he has often featured music and musicians in his work over the last fifty years. Benjamin composed music based on several poems of Campert. The original music for the film was fifteen minutes long so in July 2007 Herman and his band went back into the studio to extend the material and record some extra tracks. The result was the complete album titled 'Campert'. Benjamin Herman is one of Holland's leading musicians, well-known for his work as leader of his own groups and the jazz-dance band New Cool Collective. His previous solo album was recorded with the Stan Tracey Trio and he has often appeared in London at the Pizza Express Jazz Club with the Trio and Guy Barker. Personnel: Benjamin Herman - (alto saxophone), Gideon van er - (piano), Sean Fasciani - (double bass), Kasper Kalf - (double bass), Joost Kroon - (drums), Remco Campert - (typewriter, voice)
