0 - Default Title
Description
General Mahamat Idriss Déby's life-saving actions and his feats of arms in favor of Chad do not date from his seizure of power in April 2021. In 2006 and 2007, when the rebels of the United Front for Change (FUC) of Mahamat Nour Abdelkerim and those of Mahamat Nouri respectively launched a raid on the Chadian capital, he volunteered as a cadet officer and participated victoriously in these battles. Alongside the Marshal, it was he who broke the encirclement at Massaguet, brilliantly organized the defense of the presidential palace in N'Djamena in 2008 and routed the rebels of Timan Erdimi at Am-Dam, at the end of the great battle of the East in May 2009. Deputy Commander of the Chadian Armed Forces in Intervention in Mali (FATIM), Mahamat Idriss Déby made a significant contribution to neutralizing terrorist groups in northern Mali and saving the country in 2013. In April 2021, at the head of a column, he dispersed the rebels of Mahamat Mahdi Ali's Front for Alternation and Concord in Chad (FACT) from Libya. In order to avoid chaos in Chad following the sudden death of President Idriss Déby Itno and acting as a patriot, he accepted the proposal of his military colleagues to entrust him with the presidency of the Transitional Military Council, after the withdrawal of the constitutional successor. After taking power, President Mahamat Idriss Déby took all measures to guarantee peace, security and republican order and carried out many salutary acts
