La storia si svolge a luglio in una città mai nominata. L¿anno è il 1993. Un anno dopo le Grandi Stragi. Una terrazza d¿un quartiere di palazzoni, quella zona della città costruita in fretta e furia nel dopoguerra per ospitare le famiglie degli impiegati regionali appena assunti con chiamata diretta. La gente arrivava in massa dai paesi, senza nessun rapporto con la città antica e si stabiliva e si proteggeva in questi quartieri nuovi. La terrazza è divisa in due parti. Due grandi appartamenti che ora hanno ereditato le figlie di due impiegati alla Regione.
