Unseen to the ordinary public who pass their boarded windows and fenced walls, no trespass signs refrain communities from seeing the hidden world within, slowly being reclaimed by nature unseen. Rebecca gains entry to these mystical places hidden to the world and captures them as a beautiful record, as they deserve to be recorded for posterity, before they are lost as time rolls inexorably on. Rebecca capture the stories and characteristic through carefully composed images, to include the romance and memories of the ruins. In reality, these places will cease to exist very soon and as the memories fade, they will be forgotten and although derelict places have little appeal as tourist destinations, their value and place in cultural memory is fundamental to the history of the 20th century. Orphans of Time is a result of five years collecting photos from these places; the series now covers over 500 locations all around the world. It is book is a collection of Rebecca's favourite photos from this series and a reminder that all things in this world are temporary, but beauty can be found in their fleeting nature of these things and their memory.
