Description
The poetic and critical work of Luigi Ballerini (born in 1940 in the Milanese quarter of Porta Ticinese), is one of the richest, most complete and influential of Italian poetry of the second half of the 20th century and the first twenty years of the 21st century. Such is the variety of interests, arguments, and European and American authors summoned in his work, that to make any approach to it, it is necessary to address the years of formation and great interests, prior to the publication of his first verses in magazine from the 1960s. Of these years before his poetic writing, perhaps the most relevant is his training at the University of Bologna, the athenaeum that fostered and consolidated the birth of the Italian neovanguard in the early sixties through critical activity and personal impulse (at least at first), of Luciano Anceschi, professor of hermeneutics in that university and founder from the magazine "il verri". A literary movement to whose theoretical bases and experience Ballerini will remain united as a critic and poet throughout his subsequent activity, but always maintaining an attitude of revision of what the neovanguard had meant for Italian literary culture, and also of intelligent critical distance.
