Sgt. Murphy: A "Pvt. Murphy's Law" Collection

0 - Default Title
Description
"PVT Murphy's Law" is a popular comic serialized in the Army Times. Although largely unknown outside of the military, it has quite a following within that culture, especially (but not surprisingly) in the Army. The collection begins where every soldier's career starts -- the recruiter's office. Tim Murphy signs up to do "Army stuff". He goes through basic training, learns the mysteries of Army lingo, and wonders at the allure of his abrasive female Drill Sergeant. He confuses "MI" (Military Intelligence) with "Mobile Infantry" and heads off to language school for Russian. He doesn't quite make the grade, so he's reclassed to "needs of the Army", ie. the infantry. He successfully completes Airborne school, gets dumped by his girlfriend, navigates the sometimes ridiculous waters of regular Army life, deploys overseas, trains, and never loses his sense of humor. "SGT Murphy" collects some 300 cartoons drawn over the course of 15 years. As it is Army humor, the jokes may fall flat for civilians and those unfamiliar with Army life.
