2010 release. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe considered music to be the true element from which all poetry originates and to which it will always *. Of the three composers featured on this production it was Mendelssohn in particular who met with approval; he was sponsored by Goethe's favorite musician, Zelter. In fact, Mendelssohn's compositions first and foremost Die Erste Walpurgisnacht were actually praised by the prince of poets. Alongside the dramatic ballad, Camerata Vocale Freiburg presents Brahms' Alto Rhapsody as well as Schumann's Requiem for Mignon
