Willie Dixon recorded these tracks in 1962 at J.B. Lenoir's Chicago home as an audition tape - he hoped to get Lenoir on one of the burgeoning European blues packages. Lenoir's acute social observations and subtle political anger would, Dixon thought, find a ready audience. These 16 amazing tracks are ideal for both hardcore collector and those fascinated by postwar Chicago blues. Here's the real thing, played by a singer/songwriter and instrumentalist of renowned originality. Dixon's bass is absent - it simply isn't needed - but his presence is felt throughout by the occasional background vocals and spoken interjection. Fred Below plays drums on God's Word.
