Description
George Enescu (1881-1955) was not only Romania's most famous composer, he was one of the great violinists of the twentieth century, his fame overshadowed only by his own genius in composition. No other composer since Beethoven left behind a comparably significant oeuvre in this genre, especially considering that the golden age of the violin sonata was long past. Romanian-born violinist Remus Azoitei made his concerto debut at the age of eight and went on to study with Itzhak Perlman at the Juilliard School. After winning numerous prizes he was appointed the youngest ever violin professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
