Innovations in Concrete

0 - Default Title
Description
This study explores the partial replacement of cement in M25 grade concrete using fly ash (20-30%) and nano-silica (1.5-4.5%). The research aims to reduce cement consumption and environmental impact while improving mechanical performance. Tests on compressive, flexural, tensile strength, and modulus of elasticity were conducted on concrete mixes with different FA-NS combinations and compared with control specimens. Results indicate that the mix containing 20% fly ash and 3% nano-silica achieved the best strength values, surpassing conventional concrete. The improvement is attributed to better particle packing, denser micro-structure, and enhanced pozzolanic reactions. Higher fly ash reduced early strength, but nano-silica compensated by accelerating hydration. Excess nano-silica beyond 3% did not yield further gains. Overall, the study highlights the potential of combining fly ash and nano-silica for producing eco-friendly, high-performance concrete that reduces CO¿ emissions, conserves resources, and promotes sustainable construction.
