Communication campaigns on mental health

Communication campaigns on mental health

0 - Default Title
Description
Studies have indicated that effective health communication campaigns have the capacity to increase knowledge levels among the target population and influence behaviour change. Over the years, communication campaigns on mental health have been conducted in Kenya. However, studies indicate that the prevalence of mental illnesses and stigma towards the mentally ill is still high. This study sought to analyse the communication campaigns conducted in Nairobi County in Kenya and their impact among the most vulnerable members of the target population. Comparisons were made with campaigns conducted in other countries. Based on the findings of the study, the author recommends that communication campaigns for mental health should adhere to the established principles of health communication. This will ensure the effectiveness of the campaigns.
