Hydatidosis of the chest wall

Hydatidosis of the chest wall

0 - Default Title
Description
Hydatidosis is a public health problem in some countries. It is caused by the development in humans of the dog taenia Echinococcus granulosus.Invasion of the chest wall, defined as the involvement of ribs, vertebrae, intercostal muscles and soft tissues by echinococcosis, is extremely rare and little studied.Therapeutic management is based mainly on surgical treatment. The operative procedure essentially involved surgical excision at various levels of hydatid involvement of the chest wall.Appropriate surgical treatment of hydatidosis of the thoracic wall therefore included :complete resection of infested tissue without vesicular rupture, appropriate decompression guided by clinical and imaging findings, stabilization (by osteosynthesis and arthrodesis) posteriorly and/or anteriorly, with correction of existing deformities.
