Using rare early colour film footage this is a look at the history of the British Empire in 3 chapters: 'A Tryst with Destiny' looks at the rise and fall of the pomp and ceremony of imperialism from the Trooping of the Colour in 1906 through to the 1926 General Strike; 'The Wind of Change' looks at the problems the British encountered in Palestine and their withdrawal, the Suez Crisis through to the Mau Mau uprising in Kenya; whilst 'Legacy' looks at the flight from post-war Britain to Australia and Canada and the social changes and attitudes that have happened since the 1960s.
