For over 30 years his band, the Jazz Messengers, existed as a
proving ground for some of the finest young musicians in jazz, many
of whom would go on to become legends in their own right.
These sessions, recorded live for the highly acclaimed Dutch Radio
show Tros Sesjun, present Blakey and his band at the peak of their
powers, treating standards such as 'Along Came Betty' and 'Moanin',
as well as new compositions by members of the group, with their
own brand of bluesy soulful hard-bop.
A fantastic opportunity to hear this legendary artist and ensemble
in fine form and superb sound.
