Description
Oboe and cor anglais player, Oboman wanted to satisfy his craving for Brazilian music. He shares this musical adventure with Edu Miranda ( mandolin), Tuniko Goulart (guitar) Z Luis Nascimento (percussions). The result is festive and exhilarating, especially in the sinuous complexity of the most dizzying pieces, where the intelligent virtuosity of oboe and mandolin find perfect union. Founder member of Aquarela, oboe and cor anglais player, virtuoso improviser, Jean-Luc ''Oboman'' Fillon wanted to satisfy his craving for Brazilian music and its wild rhythms. He chose two remarkable Brazilian virtuosos to share this musical adventure: Edu Miranda (10-string mandolin) and Tuniko Goulart (7-string Brazilian guitar). After the success of their first two albums, ''Choros do Brazil'' and ''Outros Choros do Brazil'', they did it again with a colorful new album for which Oboman decided to add the marvelous percussionist Z Luis Nascimento to the trio. The result is festive and exhilarating, especially in the sinuous complexity of the most dizzying pieces, where the intelligent virtuosity of oboe and mandolin find perfect union. Choro, born at the end of the 19th century in Rio de Janeiro, is essentially an instrumental music in the oral tradition. This is the soul of Brazilian music, the one that resonates in other, better-known musical styles: samba, bossa nova and much of Brazilian popular song. Here, choro mixes with jazz in a creative freedom that is as surprising as it is joyful J-Luc Oboman Fillon: oboe, oboe d'amore and cor anglais. Twelve albums, a unique orchestral colour, shimmering music, all pulsing with sensuality. His artistic career, one of the most accomplished and exotic, is the fruit of a subtle blend of originality and perseverance. Edu Miranda: originally from So Paulo, this Brazilian mandolin player played with Mario Laginha, Maria Joo and Gilberto Gil. His solo CD, ''Choro de Longe'', enjoyed great success in Brazil and Portugal
