Prejudice and television

0 - Default Title
Description
Prejudices shape the world as people see it. Nevertheless, prejudice research is a very young discipline. Mass media such as television play an important role in conveying values and norms in a media and information society. However, television in particular often presents stereotypical and prejudiced portrayals of people (and groups of people). Since it is not particularly easy to immediately identify and consequently avoid all kinds of stereotypes and prejudices, a self-reflective and critical format that professionally exposes and questions common prejudices would be beneficial. As part of this work, a concept for a TV programme called 'Aufgeklärt' (Enlightened) was developed, which gets to the bottom of prejudices.
