Silvershine

0 - Default Title
Description
Originally released by World Circuit in 1991, 'Silvershine' has been made available again to celebrate the occasion of Andy's 90th birthday and in recognition of his being awarded an MBE for services to music in the New Year Honours List. The life and career of jazz musician Andy Hamilton has been a remarkable one, and is all the more remarkable because he is still actively playing and teaching. A local hero in his home city of Birmingham, he has a regular residency at The Bearwood Corks Club and still makes occasional sorties into other venues around the country and into mainland Europe. As an inspirational teacher, he imparts the true spirit of his beloved jazz by sharing, mentoring and coaching young and old alike. As a point of interest, the title song of the album came about through a chance meeting with actor Errol Flynn. Having heard Andy play while filming in Jamaica, the mo star summoned Andy to come and meet Robin Hood! Andy spent the next two years working with Flynn and playing music on the famous yacht Zaka. It was during that time that Andy composed, for Flynn, a jazz calypso called 'Silvershine'.
