Guitarist Andrés Segovia (1893-1987) made his very last recording, Reveries, for RCA in Madrid in June 1977. Schumann’s “Träumerei” and Album for the Young are the centrepiece of this delightful collection, which also contains music by Gluck and Spanish composers. As Gramophone’s guitar specialist John Duarte wrote of Segovia: “Few musicians have approached the affectionate expressiveness of his interpretations of small piano pieces by 19th-century composers.”
