Creating A New Wood Quality Index For Timber Classification

0 - Default Title
Description
This study employed factor analysis to identify factors influencing the sustainability of 91 wood species for various applications. Using 10 key variables : Density, compressive parallel to grain, Module of rupture, Module of elasticity, wood durability, seasoning ability, strength, average diameter of vessel, average height of ray and average width of ray. The factor analysis revealed four distinct factors each representing a combination of related attributes. These factors were used to develop an index for assessing timber sustainability. Wood quality indexes provide a standardized metric to assess timber value and usability based on considered factors as well as these indexes are crucial for predicting end-product quality, reducing risks in construction, and combating issues like timber fraud through verifiable grading.
