Valkyrien Allstars is a folk-music group consisting of three young Norwegian musicians in their early twenties. Coming from the eastern part of Norway they all play the national instrument the nine-stringed Hardanger Fiddle with Tuva Livsdatter Syvertsen as lead vocalist. Their music is rooted in traditional Norwegian music, but they have given this sound a new dimension and created a contemporary folk music that mixes styles and genres. They enjoy experimenting with music from other categories and tures. In this way they succeed in taking folk music a step further and can recognized as avant-gardists in their field. An example of their willingness to cross boundaries is their brilliant version of the Norwegian rock-legends Jokkes & Valentinerne's classic "H jeg var deg". The band says "We don't want to make our music neat and tidy. Music should pack a punch, especially down below."
