Alba Eterna
Alba Eterna
Alba Eterna, an opera in two acts, by composer Albert Guinovart with libretto by Jordi Faura and performed by the Franz Schubert Filharmonia Orchestra, conducted by Tomàs Grau.
Marta Mathéu, soprano, Anna Alàs, mezzo-soprano, Marc Sala, tenor and Josep-Ramon Olivé, baritone, make up the cast of this contemporary tragedy about the search for time, love and the inevitable passing of time.
Listening to Alba Eterna, we are inevitably fascinated by Albert Guinovart's sound universe and by the impeccable and masterful interpretation by Tomàs Grau and the Franz Schubert Philharmonia, who, together with the four soloists, produce a delicate work of immense beauty.
As described on the CD liner notes_ "There are no aesthetic boundaries in Guinovart's music and, especially, in the music of Alba eterna. The rhythmic displacement of Stravinsky coexists with absolute naturalness with melodic approaches of the musical; the unleashed romanticism of Chopin shines in contrast with fanfares that refer to the universe of Kurt Weill or Nino Rota; the perfume of Poulenc, Montsalvatge or Leonard Bernstein is perceived in the rhythms and in a refined irony".
