In the field of education, Sayyid-Ahmed Sheikh Muse was the founder of the Somali-language branch of Sawtul Arab Radio, which was based in Cairo in the 1950s. Mohamed Shire Gaab, one of the first teachers in Somaliland, also played a key role in shaping the educational landscape of the region. Similarly, Amina Macallin Qasim is credited with being the first woman to stand in front of the classroom as a teacher in 1953, marking an important milestone in the history of education in Somaliland.
